How to add and manage sections to structure the course?

The section block in FacDev allows you to display the resources and activities of a section as a block, giving you control over the organization and presentation of your course content. Sections can be customized, renamed, and their availability to students can be adjusted. Depending on the Course Format chosen, course sections may be referred to as "Topics" (in Topic format) or "Weeks" (in Weekly format).

Steps to Add Sections:

  1. Turn on editing for your course.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and just below the last section, click "+ Add Topics" (located on the right), and a pop-up will appear.

  3. Enter the number of sections you want to add to your course and click "Add Topics" to save.

  4. If necessary, change the name of the topic to suit your course's structure.

Steps to Hide a Topic:

A facilitator role in FacDev allows you to hide a section from learners.

  1. Turn on editing for your course.

  2. Click "Edit" (located on the right of the Topic you want to hide).

  3. Select "Hide Topic."

Note: In the facilitator's view of a hidden section, the content will always be displayed (dimmed) rather than hidden entirely, regardless of the settings chosen in the "Edit Course Settings" page. For hidden sections, "Hidden from students" will be displayed below the section name, while students will see "Not available."
