This unit focuses on competencies the Clinician Educator (CE) will need to develop and implement a valid system of assessment. These skills are essential in the development of new curricula and in the management of existing curricula.
The Foundations Unit and Curriculum Unit are co-requisites for this unit.
Competence in curriculum development and design is crucial to advance medical education programs. This unit will provide the Clinician Educator (CE) with the theoretical background and practical skills they need to be able to systematically create, implement, evaluate, and improve curricula, ranging from short (e.g., half-day workshop) to longitudinal curricula (e.g., a new residency program).

This unit focuses on competencies the Clinician Educator (CE) will need in order to lead teams that have an education orientation. Leadership skills are an essential ingredient in the development of new curricula, the integration of education activities within the structure and function of academic organizations and systems, the mentoring of colleagues, and the negotiation and management of conflicts. This unit will provide the CE with the theoretical framework and practical skills that he or she will require to implement the activities planned in other units.

This unit focuses on the competencies a Clinician Educator (CE) needs in order to develop and integrate simulation-based education into a curriculum. The CE will become a locally available resource for faculty development in simulation, helping to build capacity and to increase the delivery of simulation-based education.
