How to engage students in Forum discussion?

Forums can be an invaluable space to provide clear guidelines and encourage learners to share their findings, fostering a collaborative environment for feedback and discussion. The Forum activity within your course enables learners and facilitators to engage in meaningful exchanges by posting comments within a threaded structure. It's a platform where you can include various file types, such as images and media, in your forum posts.

Steps to Create a Forum:

  1. Turn on editing for your course.

  2. In the section where you'd like to add an activity, access the "Add an activity or resource" menu.

  3. Select the "Forum" activity.

  4. Provide a name for the Forum and edit the description if needed.

  5. Choose your preferred Forum type. You can click the question mark (?) icon for descriptions of each type. If you're unsure, you can start with the default "Standard Forum" for general use.

  6. Expand other sections to define the specific settings you want for your forum.

  7. Click "Save and Display," and optionally, add an initial post to kickstart the discussion.
